Overview

Your donations help us deliver vital services and support to vulnerable people in our community.

Your support will help to maintain a friendly and supportive environment as an alternative to the streets. In offering Services, everyone is welcome and accepted, individuality is respected and assistance is provided on request.

There is an increasing need for services to assist homeless individuals in the downtown core. We have experienced increased demands for food, shelter and support services. Our top needs are listed on our Wish List page.

Calgary French International School

As the environment and the needs of people change, the services offered by the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre also change. The result is that an increasing number of services are offered by the Centre to more and more people. To help secure our future as a provider of non-judgmental, caring services to people requiring food, shelter or other services, the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre has joined The Calgary Foundation in establishing an Endowment Fund. Income from the Endowment Fund will be used to help support future development at the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre.

Hi Miles — what a generous offer. Yes, we do pick up household goods. If you call our main number: 403-266-3600 and ask for Kevin, he will be able to help you.

    Thank you!

    Hi there!
I have a 12 year old Kenmore washing machine that’s in great working order (I still like it!) The dryer gave up and we bought a new set. I would like to see someone be able to use the washing machine instead of just recycling it. The problem is I don’t own a truck to get it into the DIC. Is it possible to have it picked up?

  5. Louise : January 25th, 2010 at 3:57 pm

    Please give Kevin a call @ 403-699-8293

    Thank you!

I have a closet full of clothes to donate. They have been hanging or folded for months. Do you need them laundered first?

    Tim Gorman : February 16th, 2010 at 8:23 am

Thanks so much! They’ll be fine as long as they’re clean.

    Hello,

I’m wondering if you have a list of items that you accept as donations? As well, if there are any specifically that are of more need, a notation on that would be great as well!

    Thank you.

    Tim Gorman : February 25th, 2010 at 11:43 am

That’s fantastic! You could just drop them off any time at our Main Location on the Loading Dock. (423 4 Ave SE) Thanks!

    Hi..
I was wondering along with Kristy R. If there is a list of items you will accept as donations and any specail needed items as well? I have much to donate but unsure of what you will accept.
    Thank you so much..
    Lisa A.
I would also like send a very special and heartfelt thanks to the DIC for setting up and having a BEAUTIFUL memorial service for my uncle Robert (Bobby) Milkowski..without your kind and caring contribution and such wonderful thoughtfullness. We would not have been able to remember him in such a way. He was a special man and i will never forget what you have done. Thank you so much for opening your facility to our family and his friends in such a way. I will always be thankful!!!
    Thank You so much DIC…

  12. Louise : June 11th, 2010 at 4:11 pm

Hi Lisa — thank you so much for your generosity and your kudos — we felt privileged to have been able to honour your uncle and to have been able to offer comfort to you and your family.

We do have a needs list — and some items in critical need right now are Razors. Running shoes. Tooth paste. Shaving cream. Deodorant. Women’s Hygiene products. Socks.

If you call our volunteer office at 403-699-8277 they will be delighted to answer your questions. Thanks again.

I have a bedroom suite that I would like to donate. It consists of a Queen sized headboard (contains a mirror and shelves), two side tables (2 drawers each), and a women’s 7-drawer dresser (contains hutch with mirror and shelves). Is it possible for someone to pick it up? I do not have a vehicle big enough to carry the pieces. Thank-you!

Hi Karen. I’ve forwarded your comment on to Kevin who arranges these things. Thanks for thinking of us.

    Hello,
I am the manager of New Balance Calgary.
We frequently have footwear in good condition that is considered “defective” (torn stitch, damaged eyelet, discoloured from the sun, etc.)
Unlike most footwear manufactures New Balance does not usually require us to return these shoes and instead encourages us to donate them.

I was wondering who I would talk to about donating these shoes to you folks.

    Thanks

Hi! I have various items that I would love to have you use – toys, children’s books, clothes, shoes, couch and love seat, rocking chair, some small household items etc. Is it possible to drop them off and is there a specific day and time that you take donations? Or Can I have the items boxed and ready and have someone pick them up? We are out in Airdrie. Thanks so much in advance!
