Move from within.
Don’t move the way that fear wants you to.
Begin a foolish project.

The Possibilities Project began with a partnership between the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre and Wildrose United Church. The intention was to create an opportunity and a space where individuals experiencing homelessness could explore their creativity and deepen their connection to themselves and the human condition we all share. There was no expected outcome, no destination, no measurement of success determined by how many brushstrokes were cast or notes sung.
Over the course of three and a half years, the Project has evolved from a solely visual arts based program, art.works, to encompass the arts in its many forms. Poetry. Writing. Drama. Singing. Music. Found art sculptures. Mask making…
The Possibilities Project is a place and a time where individuals can experience joy, excitement, serenity and well-being amidst the chaos of homelessness. As the Project continues to grow and expand the expectation is not to concretize the program in process and procedures, but to continue to nurture the spirit of creativity at the heart of each participant as they self-direct the unfolding of possibility in their lives.
In the Possibilities Project creative expression ignites personal truth in a place where voice and self-empowerment are experienced from where ever the artist begins their journey of discovery. Engaged through the creative process, the Possibilities Project touches the lives of everyone involved through the power of art to effortlessly awaken spirit and voice.
This video is a brief overview of the impact of art and the Project on the lives of those who have turned up. In their commitment to taking action through their creative expression, a different kind of place is created; a place where art awakens each of us to possibility in a place where people matter.

Terrific video. It continues to astound me how much the Di does for people – all people. This video is well worth the few minutes to watch!
